Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, Dave Mirra and Jimmy Keeney
started the LCQ with Block knowing he needed to hit the hole shot. Pastrana had
the same idea and hit got to the Discount Tire corner first. Block was all over
Pastrana and giving him intense pressure, but after the first jump it seemed
that something happened to Pastrana’s Dodge and he spun in the hairpin turn. With
the spin, he dislocated his shoulder and couldn’t get the car back going. Block
made an excellent evasive move to not T-bone him, got around him and then drove
a smooth, smooth race to the finish and a spot in the final.
