Forestburgh, New York
(August 2, 2012) Rally New York, Ltd. has invoked Article 3.12 of the event
Supplementary Regulations and cancelled Rally Delaware 2012 scheduled for
August 24 – 25. This action has been taken because an insufficient number of
entries has been received by August 1.
Rally
Delaware was planned as a two-day tarmac rally with 104 miles of special stages
and a total length of 320 miles. The rally was to be conducted according to the
international regulations with full reconnaissance of the rally route and pace
notes. All these features taken together make this rally unique in the United
States.
Rally New
York, Ltd. wants to thank the teams on the entry list as well as all sponsors
and supporters. This includes but is not limited to Town of Walton, Walton
Chamber of Commerce, Walton Fire Department and a number of local businesses.
Volunteers and senior staff of the rally deserve special thanks for their
dedicated efforts in preparing Rally Delaware, which was to be the 39th
Rally New York event in eleven seasons. It is in the best interest of all these
entities that we make this announcement today rather than on August 10
specified in Article 3.12 of the Supplementary Regulations.
Under the
circumstances, Rally New York, Ltd. intends not to spend additional time and
money in further planning and preparation of the gravel International Rally New
York 2012 scheduled for October 20 – 21.
Consequently,
the next event of the United States Rally Championship (USRC) is Gorman Ridge
Rally in California on August 25, 2012. The final round of the 2012 United
States Rally Championship will be Prescott Rally in Arizona on September 28 –
